Taco Seasoning

Thanks to those that have endured my endless tests posts this afternoon.  I’ve been trying to link my blog with the Facebook page that I’ve created for Old Thyme Recipes.  I’ve had little to no luck at all, and its frustrating.  But that won’t make dinner, so here is a super recipe for homemade taco seasoning which is soooo much better than the packaged crap.  You control the spice, heat, salt and better yet, there is no MSG in this recipe.

Taco Seasoning

2 Tablespoons chili powder

5 teaspoons paprika

4 1/2 teaspoons ground cumin

3 teaspoons onion powder

3 teaspoons kosher salt

2 1/2 teaspoons garlic powder

1/8 teaspoon cayenne pepper or 2 teaspoons red pepper flakes

Combine and keep sealed in a glass jar.  Use 2-3 tablespoons per 1 pound of ground beef.   Also add 3/4 water, beef broth or combination of and simmer until liquid is evaporated.  Adjust the salt to your taste.  I always make a double batch.
