I am a huge fan of cereal snack mixes. Both savory and sweet, you can eat buckets of the stuff before you know it. This one has the benefit of being made from spoon sized Shredded Wheat, which is a bit better for you than a sugary cereal. (Although I love Muddy Buddies and Puppy Chow).
Mix up a bowl for your Super Bowl party this weekend!
Spoon Size Snack Mix
6 cups Spoon Size Shredded Wheat
1/4 cup unsalted cocktail peanuts
1/2 cup butter or margarine
2 tablespoons Worcestershire sauce
1 1/2 teaspoon garlic salt
1 cup mini pretzel sticks
1/4 cup dark seedless raisins (optional)
Preheat oven to 350F. In large bowl, combine cereal and peanuts; set aside. In a 13x9x2 cake pan over medium heat, melt butter or margarine; stir in the Worcestershire sauce and garlic salt; spread evenly on the bottom of the pan. Remove from heat and add combined ingredients; toss to coat evenly until butter is absorbed. Add pretzel sticks and bake 20-25 minutes or until lightly browned and crisp. If desired, stir in raisins after cooled. Serve warm or cold. Makes about 8 cups.
